Moritz FEB24: Everything is very well balanced. Lemon zest, wet stones, lightly buttered brioche & white almond. round/juicy-elegant mouthfeel, but becomes very slim at the back. A yellow fruitiness is added, but remains very mineral on the palate.
Tasting FEB20: Ultra-charming and yet classy, soft minerality and freshness at the back, so that everyone understands, very melty, nice fruitiness, not intrusive, creamy, brioche, classic
Tasting FEB19: Perfect, elegant "all-rounder", the acidity is perfectly buffered, yet fresh and very balanced. With the typical brioche aroma that many appreciate in champagne.

A bit more vinous and fruity than the Blanc de Blancs from Diebolt-Vallois due to the dark grape content, thus very pleasant and charming to drink. Very balanced, fine fruity and fresh, nice introduction to the champagne world of Diebolt-Vallois. The ideal aperitif champagne!
Nicola FEB24: Delicately fruity, elegant, playful, floral, pleasant, delicate.
Moritz FEB24: Very classic styling. Everything is very subtle and unobtrusive. Brioche, citrus, fine fruit. The perlage is very fine and elegant. Everything is very well balanced. There is a nice flow to the drinking.
Tasting Aug22 Moritz: Nice classical Champagne style. A mix of brioche and pumpernickel create a nice balanced smokiness. With some time a freshness evolves. Nice balanced.

Diebolt first attempted rosé Champagnes in 1982, 1983 and 1985; after an extended break, it resumed its efforts in 2009. Those twenty years between were spent concentrated almost exclusively on Blanc de Blanc Champagne.
Tasting FEB20: Carried by a super fine perlage this Champagne appears fresh and playful. red berries pair well with some strawberry-green. Perfect as Aperitif on warm summer-days or as compagnion with light foods higher in acidity

Very beautiful, complex nose with notes of chalk and candied lemon peel. On the palate, it is powerful with a subtle woody influence, but at the same time retains an amazing freshness and salinity, as no malolactic fermentation has taken place. An excellent Blanc de Blancs that is a pleasure to drink. Still full-bodied on the palate with a long finish. I love it!Nicola FEB24: Warmer, charming release, very pleasant to drink, extreme drinkability.
Moritz FEB24: Rounder and warmer than 2019. Nice yellow fruitiness on the nose, on the palate more pear and quince. Everything is nicely wrapped and balanced. The firm acidity provides the necessary backbone. Each glass makes you want the next. Niagara drinkability.
Lukas FEB23: Very delicate nose, citrus, apple, peach, backed by a fine herbal spiciness. On the palate riper apple and pear, very nicely integrated acidity, spicy notes (pepper) and some ginger on the finish. Very drinkable with super draught.
Andreas OKT21: fine Burgundy scent -> very mouthwashing and stimulating, as carried more from the ground than from the fruit / starts crazy crispy in the mouth / great pressure / agile and pronounced on the tongue / that's really fun and good mood / no gram of fat and yet emaciated or bony / very clean and straightforward / Carrousel en bouche / (AR)
Nicola OKT21: Firm fruit, like drinking liquid chalk, but not sparse! Powerful, delicate, fresh, lively. Makes you want to more!

Special selection from old vines from three grand cru terroirs Cramant, Chouilly, Le Mesnil sur Oger
Vinified in stainless steel
25% reservewines from previous year
15% reserve wines vinified in big oak cascs as solera (start 2009)
Nicola FEB24: Balanced, strong body, lively, with nice maturity, light honey notes, something fresh, structure.
Moritz FEB24: The nose is very ripe and aromatic. Butter brioche, white almond, wet stones & hayflower. On the palate, a nice saltiness and the nose is very well reflected. The perlage almost dances over the tongue and fills the whole mouth. Everything is very elegant and the finish has a very long resonance.
Lukas DEZ22: The nose is dominated by pear aromas, finely backed by herbaceous-spicy notes and fine yeast and wood notes. In the mouth, juicy (cider) apple and pears, supported by light yeast notes, some grapefruit and a fine, present acidity - sophisticated and profound.
Tasting FEB20: Creamy richness from the wood, freshness from the tank, darker, racy, earthier, very minerally a bit more vinous than BdB, more serious, racy
Tasting FEB19: Accessible with high complexity at the same time, creamy, structure, strong!
Tasting FEB18: Body, depth, structure, mineral, straight, much more compley than blanc de Blancs and Tradition but more on the crisp, structured side (not smooth and round).
Pinot Noir (main part), Pinot Meunier & Chardonnay
36 months bottle aging
Not filtered or filtered
Dosage: 2,4g/l
Meininger Sommelier 2022: Attractive, ethereal, tart herbal spices, mugwort, liquorice, sourdough bread, intense, full, ripe, yet with tension, acidity, good depth, slightly clayey texture, some tonka bean, noble roasted aromas.
Nicola JUL22: Perhaps the most exciting, classy of the range, where you have the most oak influence, lots of spice, body and pressure, a real protagonist!
100% Chardonnay
From the Grand Cru vineyards of Cramant (old vines)
Vinified in wooden barrels for 9 months
> 5 years bottle aging on the lees
Dosage: 2 g/l
Named after a son of the family
This cuvée is made from grapes grown on the estate's oldest plots, selected with the greatest care to bring out the unique nuances of the terroir (Le Grand Cru de Cramant) of the Côte des Blancs.
Aromas of fresh fruit and a creamy-mineral persistence are supported by toasted notes. Gripping on the palate with a fresh minerality.
Nicola FEB24: Minimal sherry note, matured, with a finish of salted caramel.
Moritz FEB24: Despite the beautiful maturity (slight oxidative notes), the Cuvée Constantin appears quite austere. Wet stones, citric, but also aromas like white almond and salted caramel are found. On the palate, the aromas from the nose appear somewhat more tart under the present acidity. The long finish leaves a nicely chalky/mineral aftertaste, which gives the champagne even more grip and length.
Nicola JUN22: Perhaps the most chalky, mineral from the range, but again that lovely ripened fruit note. Exciting mildly spicy complex tone. On the 3rd day: racy, spicy notes, strong character with enormous drinking flow.
Moritz OCT22: The rich style of Leclaire-Thiefaine is conveyed most strongly in Cuvée 03 Constantin. The slightly oxidative nose shows a wonderfully profound spice and orange fruit. On the palate, an interplay of aromas of orange citrus fruits, spice and light notes of brioche is carried by the incredibly elegant perlage. A champagne that hugs you and won't let go.

Mapping Champagne by Charles Curtis (Master of Wine) & Steve De Long
The great wine cartographer Louis Larmat produced the only detailed maps of Champagne in the 1940s.Charles Curtis (MW) and Steve De Long are now engaged in a modern update and expansion of Larmat's pioneering work to add to the collection.
So that the wonderfully designed maps can also be admired in our country, Champagne Characters has imported these copies directly from the USA.
The card is mounted in a high-quality plastic frame with a passe-partout. Enclosed is an accompanying brochure of Cramant Grand Cru, which offers a tour of the village's terroir and its unique wines, a complete list of the lieux-dits grown (or partially grown) in the commune and a directory of its winegrowers.

It is a blend of old vineyards (40 years old to over 100 years old) on this very special terroir, considered by all as one of the two greatest historic villages of the Côte des Blancs. Its silky texture, elegance and depth are unique. With 12 hectares of Grand Cru, we have never made a cuvée from 100% Grand Cru. Our philosophy of champagne making has always led us to add a touch of "Cuis 1er cru" to give freshness to our great vintages, because we prefer harmony to intensity. Since the 2012 vintage, we have decided to expand our range; the iconic "Grands Terroirs de Chardonnay" are complemented by 3 "Single Terroirs" in very limited quantities.

Our old vines in Cramant face south-east and are blessed with an exceptional terroir. They are aged between 48 and over 75 years old. Their deep root system and the diversity of the old stocks contribute to the complexity of the wine.
Since we created this cuvée in 1988, we have been explaining the difference between « Cramant » and « Crémant ». In order to avoid this confusion, we have decided to change the name : Vieille Vigne de Cramant becomes Vieille Vigne du Levant!
Indeed, Vieille Vigne de Cramant’s parcel is called « Bourron du Levant » and Levant means the East, the first sun rays in the morning. In Cramant, the Levant is very different from the vines located on the other side of the hill, West facing. The East-facing vines give particularly rich and powerful grapes, this is quite a magic place.
Vinification:
The natural alcoholic fermentation (natural yeast) and the malolactic fermentation begin spontaneously in our casks and our wooden vats. The wines are left on their natural lees for nearly a year and undergo gentle bâtonnages, but no filtering or fining. If the year merits it, this cuvée will be bottled in July as a vintage.
No need to blend, this is a single vineyard.
Then the bottles are then taken down into the coolness of our cellars, where the second fermentation and the maturation 'on laths' quietly take place over a period of a minimum of 5 years. Each bottle is disgorged manually 6 months before being marketed.
