The champagne garden - Fiona McIntosh
About the book:
Épernay, 1914: Sophie Delancré is a passionate winemaker. She runs her family's winery and has a big dream: she wants to produce the finest champagne in France. When she meets the good-looking and warm-hearted Jerome Mea, also a winemaker, it is love at first sight. Soon the wedding bells will ring and happiness seems perfect. But shortly after the wedding, Jerome has to go to war and Sophie is left alone on the property they share.
As the young winemaker struggles to keep her winery running on her own, a critical sugar shortage forces her to enter into a dangerous deal with a shady acquaintance. And suddenly war no longer seems to be the only threat in their lives...
